The Neighborhood Block Party Returns to The Village!
Among the many exciting things about 2022 is the return of the Neighborhood Block Party to The Village! Now in its sixth year (with a two-year break for the pandemic), this special fundraiser to support the Alzheimer’s Association was held Thursday, April 28, and was great fun for everyone at The Village as well as our Franklin and Southampton County communities.
“We call it the Neighborhood Block Party in reference to our memory care support in Asa’s Neighborhood,” explained Franci Jackson, Marketing Director for The Village. “This annual community party is a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association to support our local chapter’s work for dementia care, which includes training for our health care team.”
To maintain precautions for the ongoing coronavirus concerns, The Village held this year’s event outdoors on the Village lawn and on the patio for our campus restaurant, The Back Porch & Grille.
“We’re so excited the Back Porch is open again and available for special events,” Franci said. “It’s a fan favorite in our community for its great food and friendly, hometown feel.”
The weather was perfect for an outdoor party this year, and The Village sold around 250 tickets. Attendees from the community enjoyed music from the band Feature Attractions, drinks and a barbeque buffet—raising nearly $22,000 for Alzheimer’s research.
Proceeds benefitted the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization that supports research, risk reduction and treatment for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The Village partners with the association to make sure our memory care neighborhood is offering the most advanced care available.
As part of our continuum of care, Asa’s Neighborhood offers individualized care for seniors, all in a warm, loving, and secure environment where you or your loved one can feel safe and make every day meaningful. To learn more about memory support at The Village, contact us today for a tour!
